We help kids who struggle to learn and cope at school (and the parents who love them).
It can be hard to pinpoint the actual underlying problem that is contributing to your child’s frustration in school. Their struggle may be due to many factors including difficulties with attention, the way they take in and process information, the way they connect to others socially, learning gaps, how they manage their emotions, anxiety, or a learning disorder just to outline a few.
We do comprehensive assessments to determine the real issue. This allows for the most appropriate and targeted interventions and recommendations to help you and your child succeed at school. We identify the root of the issue and give you a map of how to navigate and support improvements.
Currently no face-to-face assessment is being done due to the pandemic.
Meet Kim Viljoen, PhD.
SPECIALIST IN STRESS AND TRAUMA AND HOW IT AFFECTS BRAIN DEVELOPMENT, LEARNING AND BEHAVIOUR.
Kim is a registered clinical counsellor with training in school neuropsychology, EMDR, and expressive therapies such as art, play and sand tray. She holds level 2 training in Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model.
Kim has worked with children within the education system for over 20 years as a teacher, counsellor and school psychologist.
Kim has been using the SSP with children and youth for the last 2 years. Given our current extraordinary times, working with parents to provide this service remotely is a perfect fit to the stress many are facing.
